ChickAdvisor wins 2009 Canadian New Media Award

Toronto, ON, December 2, 2009 – Last night, ChickAdvisor won the Canadian New Media Award (CNMA) for Hottest New Digital Kid on the Block. Part of nextMEDIA Toronto, the CNMAs are Canada’s only nationwide competition exclusive to digital media properties. Last night’s gala marked the awards’ ninth consecutive year. It took place at the Toronto Design Exchange.

The Hottest New Digital Kid on the Block prize is based on innovation, community engagement and monetization. The category is open to, but not limited to blogs, portals, videos, social networking groups, Twitter accounts mobile applications, games and wherever digital eyeballs hang out.

Competing alongside the winner were KWAD9, a TrinĂ´me Inc. online social network devoted to helping teens discover new trends in Quebec, and Spark City, a virtual environment that features online gaming and a social network. Spark City is an entity of the AllGirlArcade.com, which is powered by Fuel Industries.

ChickAdvisor.com is Canada’s first web community for women ages 18-40 that features thousands of user generated reviews on products and local services. Over 125,000 visitors from across North America visit the site monthly to enjoy various initiatives that include the online Product Review Club and the offline shopping parties (source: Google Analytics). Chick Advisor has experienced a 167% growth over the past year. It has been featured on CBC Newsworld, GlobalTV, Canadian Business, The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun, CBC Radio, Media in Canada, and many other national and international publications.
