ChickAdvisor wins 2009 Canadian New Media Award

Toronto, ON, December 2, 2009 – Last night, ChickAdvisor won the Canadian New Media Award (CNMA) for Hottest New Digital Kid on the Block. Part of nextMEDIA Toronto, the CNMAs are Canada’s only nationwide competition exclusive to digital media properties. Last night’s gala marked the awards’ ninth consecutive year. It took place at the Toronto Design Exchange.

The Hottest New Digital Kid on the Block prize is based on innovation, community engagement and monetization. The category is open to, but not limited to blogs, portals, videos, social networking groups, Twitter accounts mobile applications, games and wherever digital eyeballs hang out.

Competing alongside the winner were KWAD9, a TrinĂ´me Inc. online social network devoted to helping teens discover new trends in Quebec, and Spark City, a virtual environment that features online gaming and a social network. Spark City is an entity of the AllGirlArcade.com, which is powered by Fuel Industries.

ChickAdvisor.com is Canada’s first web community for women ages 18-40 that features thousands of user generated reviews on products and local services. Over 125,000 visitors from across North America visit the site monthly to enjoy various initiatives that include the online Product Review Club and the offline shopping parties (source: Google Analytics). ChickAdvisor has been named as a finalist for the Canadian New Media Awards as Hottest New Digital Kid on the Block. Hosted by nextMEDIA, the award will go to a startup digital media property that demonstrates innovation, original concept or content and above all, user engagement.

ChickAdvisor.com is Canada's first social network for women 18-40 that has thousands of user generated reviews of products and local services. Over 1.5 million women visit ChickAdvisor every year, participating in online reviews, offline shopping parties, videos and product sampling through the popular Product Review Club. ChickAdvisor Hosts Recessionista ShopCrawl in Bloor/Yorkville


Toronto, On, May 27, 2009 - On Thursday June 18th, ChickAdvisor is hosting their 5th ShopCrawl: Recessionista. 100 savvy shoppers will take over the Bloor/Yorkville Neighborhood for a night of exclusive discounts from participating boutiques, followed by an after party with cocktails and snacks, prizes, loot bags and a fashion walk off for the best outfit purchased that night. Tickets are $25 per person and available online.

The ShopCrawl is ChickAdvisor's signature event, hosted in a different neighborhood each time. Past Crawls have been in Queen Street West, Queen West West and Little Italy. ChickAdvisor created a promotional video of their last ShopCrawl.
